PSA: Stitch ' Bitch Cancelled!! [Mar. 14th, 2008|01:06 pm]
Fire Sea Crafts Cooperative

[Current Mood |crappybummed]

Hello all,

I really hate to report this but the Freepeople house is cancelling the Stitch 'n Bitch we had planned for tonight. Heather has come down with what seems to be the flu. You don't want it. We don't want to give it to you. Not to mention she's seriously burnt toast and a housefull of people isn't going to be her favorite thing in the world.

So sorry that this is so last minute!! Please spread the word so we don't again become the "typhiod mary's" of the community.

Many many hugs!!!

(Sorry for the cross post! I don't think everybody in the community reads my journal...)

I will be bringing my swift and ball winder to the SnB meeting next Friday for any of you lovelies who may have hanks that they'd wish were center pull balls.

The swift has a maximum circumference of 72", so is big enough for just about any hanks you may have. The ball winder and swift both clamp to a table lip and work wonderfully together (I wound 20+ balls of lace, I know!) so if you need them, just let me know.

If there's a huge need for them, I can also be convinced to take some of the yarn back with me and work on it that weekend in my free time to be returned the next time I see you.

Comment here if you want/need to use the swift and winder.
I figure it'll be a first to arrive, first to use it basis.
But just so I get a headcount.

(sorry guys, meant to use this account to start off with)

So...a while ago I posted dates for potential get togethers...and we had one that was oodles of fun!! (yay!)
And then the Freepeople came down with the plague...alot (boo!)...and due to quarantine standards we thought it'd be a bad plan to have another one until we were over it.

We're finally over it!! *happy dance of glee*

So here are the dates for the next few Stitch 'n Bitch's that the Freepeople are hosting:
Next Wednesday the 27th of February
Friday March 14th
Wednesday March 26th (this'll probably a good chance for last minute details for the Fairy Festival too...)

And then I've a couple a little farther out that I need to run by the household...so we'll see...
Hope we'll see some of you at some of them :)

That's all for now, I hope everyone's crafting is going well!!!

A Faire in the Grove [Feb. 9th, 2008|01:41 am]

[Current Mood |curiouscurious]

After Tricky Pixie show this evening I went checking Alec's schedule just to see what he's up to between now and the return of Sooj in July, and I found this A Faire in the Grove which is an SCA faire at Pacific University in Oregon. First thought, I want to go! Second thought, would setting up another booth be something the co-op would be interested in doing? Assuming they let slightly fairy based merchants in to an SCA event :)

Fleece [Jan. 28th, 2008|04:13 pm]
Fire Sea Crafts Cooperative

[Current Mood |busy]

For those of us who spin there is going to be a fleece  sale on Whidbey Island on Thursday the 28th of Feb. This is a good oportunity to purchase whole fleeces and possibly some roving. If you buy the fleece be prepared to either go through the long process of cleaning a carding it yourself or spend a little extra money and have someone else do the cleaning.

This is the closest wool processor that I have found.  I am going to send off an email to them and see if they will let me drop off fleece instead of shipping. Also it may be that several of us can put together a large enough order to get some kind of quantity break. I already have some stuff that I need just carded. I'm also not allowed to bring raw fleece home. It take up the whole bathroom with the processing and it is stinky and messy. Not fun for the other house mates if you only have one bathroom.

Just thought I would share the joy.

Hello crafty people!!

In the continuing effort to bribe you all into coming to my house a week from tomorrow I'm posting a list of all of our pattern books that you can paw through if you come!
Cheating is just winning creatively :D

I only have a couple knitting books so I'll start with those and then move on to the crochet books.

-Viva Poncho "Twenty ponchos and caplets to knit." By: Christina Stork and Leslie Babrbazette
This has a couple really pretty light shawls that I think would work well for summer sales...if any of you crazy knitters are interested.

-A Treasury of Magical Knitting By: Cat Bordhi
If you've ever seen the nifty Moebius knitting stuff?? This is her first book.

-Kids Knitting "Projects for kids of all ages." By: Melanie Falick
This has some cute finger puppets as well as wacky socks that I think might be fun to try.

-Fiber Trends "Night on the Town" Felt Purse By: Bev Galeskas
Not a book, just the pattern...Mom got it for me not realizing that a crochet pattern would've been the better choice...Pretty purse though :)

-Kooky Crochet "30 Remarkably Wacky Projects" By: Linda Kopp
Our newest book!! We had to have it!! It has, among many other things, crocheted coffee cozies, laptop cozies, a fig leaf halter top, hand puppets, and fuzzy dice pillows. Seriously want to make stuff from this book!!

-Learn to Crochet the Easy Way By: Jean Leinhauser
This is the book I used as my guide for the refresher course I put myself through. If anyone is looking to learn or relearn crochet I highly recommend this one. The only project I think is likely is a tank top that could be made with something sparkly.

-The Happy Hooker "Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet" By: Debbie Stoller
Really good book for more advanced crochet information. Lots of cute designs. Halter top, bunny slippers, skully hot pads :)

-Cool Crochet "30 Hot Fun designs to crochet and wear." By: Melissa Leapman
Not my favorite book. Though I did get the muppet hat out of it :) Has a couple purses and tops that are cute and would probly work up nice.

-Geometrics "A new way to crochet" By: Ruthie Marks
This is one of the coolest crafty books I've ever seen!! It's all based on nifty geometric theory :D
This is the book the 7 pointed star afghan I've been working on forever comes from. A bag, a shawl, some baskets, and lots of really nifty ideas!!

-Felted Crochet Purses By: Stitch 'n Frame
Little paperback pamphlet that was on sale. Has some really cute purse ideas in it.

-Sexy Swimwear to Crochet By: Kristina Dannels
These I think would be perfect for FW!! It's got several different bikini designs and a number of different cover ups that I think the FW crowd would love!!

-A Year of Afghans By:Annis Clapp
No we don't want to make the whole blankets. There are a few motifs that I think could me made into bags or shawls effectively. A butterfly, a couple different flowers, a fall leaf. Good ideas.

-Fiber Trends "Crochet Felt Ballet Slippers" By: Bev Galeskas
If I can figure out how to make them they would be brilliant!!

As well as all those I have 2 crochet magazines that have some good granny square ideas among other things.

Yay patterns and projects!! See you soon!!
